Boldon Miners Banner Group
Boldon Miners Banner Groups February meeting was held on Tues. 3rd February,at 7.30.p.m. in The Roberts Room at the Boldon Community Association.Please try and come to the meetings as this group is all about the local heritage.
All Boldon Schools keen to take part in the Competition to design the reverse side of the Banner. It is understood that a £500 donation from the Durham Miner's Association to kick-start the fund has been promised.
Original Group Members
January Meeting : At the meeting on 6th January members viewed some of the school submissions for the reverse side of the banner. It was noted that the school children be congratulated for there fantastic designs. This important contribution that will be presented to the designer as part of the competition where they will choose the winner.
Also discussed was funding . The group are currently making badges and key rings to help towards raising the funds required to make the banner.
Our first meeting . On Monday 11th August 2008 at 7.30 in the Roberts Room at the Boldon Community Association.
We discussed the formation of the group and agreed objectives to raise funds to make a new Boldon Minors Lodge Banner.
In this photograph you can see on the balcony waving James Callaghan and on his left is Eric Heffer.
The Banner reads:
"You have been so faithful and so loving to us that we shall never forget your favour towards us".
