Neighbourhood Management

Boldon Newtown, according to recent research, was highlighted as being in the worst 5% nationally in terms of social deprivation, enterprise and jobs. Worklessness was at 30% with child poverty also being in the worst  5% nationally.

South Tyneside Local Authority, together with Home Housing and local residents agreed to create a Neighbourhood Management Team to address many of those problems. The team is funded until March 2008 and it is hoped that funding will be extended further

The team, led by Neighbourhood Manager Maria Anderson, have been given the job of regenerating Boldon Newtown by working with residents to help improve the area.
