Boldon Miners Banner Group next meeting set for Tuesday Feb. 3rd ,at 7.30.p.m. is to be held in The Roberts Room at the Boldon Community Association. All Boldon Schools keen to take part in the Competition to design the reverse side of the Banner. It is understood that a £500 donation from the Durham Miner's Association to kick-start the fund has been promised. More Details

The demolition site on John Street in Boldon now boasts warning signs, designed by local young people, warning of the dangers faced when entering the site. The Boldon Young People Project got young people to design the boards as a way of getting the message across of the dangers of entering the site.
Boldon Newtown Community Garden scooped a gold award for best voluntary project in this year's Northumbria in Bloom competition. The garden, located at the allotments off North Road , Boldon Colliery, is managed by the Boldon Neighbourhood Management Team, working in conjunction with local councillors, the Boldon Residents Group and South Tyneside Council.
The team, led by Neighbourhood Manager Maria Anderson, have been given the job of regenerating Boldon Newtown by working with residents to help improve the areas appearance.
Transforming our Primary Schools (TOPS) Consultation report was discussed at the C.A.F. meeting on 15th November 2007. Part of the proposals include the closing of Boldon C of E Primary School in Sept 2008 at the earliest. It was said that 56% of the pupils who attend live in Boldon Newtown area. Concerned parents and supporters of the school made it clear that the consultation period thats ends 30th November 2007 should be extended due to alleged irregularities that has made the opportunity to comment on the proposals difficult to meet the deadline.
Dust and Dirt blowing into nearby residents homesarising from building works at the site formerly occupied by Boldon School has resulted in a petition presented to Community Area Forum by residents of Reay Crescent. Forum members have asked council officers to ensure routine monitoring is carried out and that the developers, Taylor Wimpey implement additional measures to suppress dust and minimise dust movement.
Boldon History Afternoon on Thursday 27th September 2007 saw its venue, St Nicholas Church Hall filled all afternoon. The amount and quality of the photographs etc was fantastic. It was great to see a great number of the local community participating in the event. Many of the photographs were from Boldon Colliery.
