As part of the preparations for Northumbria in Bloom Awards local school children help plant out a scheme around the Village Hall including oak barrels that were donated by local nursery Tubs and Shrubs. Local school groups planted out bulbs in many of the local grassed areas with the help of Boldon Neighbourhood Management team's Environmental Improvement officer, Stephen Thompson and the Community Gardener, Richard Johns. The local Children's Day Centre also had bulbs ( which were kindly supplied by South Tyneside Council) planted around the perimeter by the children.A great job was done by all despite the changing weather conditions.
