Village Hall
The Village Hall was built as a result of a planning gain in 1997 when Asda was built.
Apart
from Boldon Detached Youth Project, a baby Clinic and a weekly
Councillors Surgery, the facility was not fully utilised until 2005.
Here we are now approaching 2008 and the building is fully utilised. Positioned opposite the Housing Office and round the corner to the Medical Centre it has developed into Community Resource Centre offering advice and information on a range of issues relating to the community.
Barrels donated by Tubs and Shrubs
The Village Hall has undergone a huge refurbishment to improve its facilities. A number of activities are now available for residents, including sports clubs for young people and computing facilities to provide educational assistance to people of all ages.
After a recent visit to the Village Hall and Community Garden
Stephen Hepburn, the Labour member of parliament for the constituency
of Jarrow wrote :
" A range of improvements have taken place and a lot of hard work has been going on behind the scenes. I was hugely impressed by the community garden and the Village Hall which is now an integral part of the local community in Boldon. It is encouraging that so many people are working together to help regenerate the Boldon Newtown area and everyone involved should be congratulated for all of their hard work."
